Caseload & Waitlist currently full - thank you!
Hi! I’m Lauren, and I am an artist and Registered Art Psychotherapist living in Hamilton, Ontario and the founder of InnerSpace Art Therapy.
I use art to help me make sense of the world around me (and within me). I believe that each client is the expert of themselves and holds the answers within themselves, and that my role, along with creative expression, is to help you find those answers. I invite creativity to our sessions to allow you to feel more present, grounded and safe.
Using a client-led and strength-based approach, I can help build on your strengths and help develop your sense of confidence and self so you’ll feel supported and prepared to navigate your unique journey. My practice is trauma-informed, which often means looking at issues and dysregulation as symptoms of something deeper going on beneath the surface and being curious about how past traumas may have an impact on us today.

Mikah Fortier
(They/Them/Theirs)
DTATI, RP (Qualifying)
My name is Mikah and I’m a multi-disciplinary artist, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Art Therapist (DTATI Candidate) who brings compassion and creativity to my work in journeying alongside clients of all ages. Inspired by the natural world, I weave together a relational, eclectic and collaborative approach to therapy anchored by creative expression, mindfulness, curiosity, movement, and play. I believe that clients know themselves best, and it is my role to support clients in feeling more resourced and empowered amidst the challenges they face. Whether you’re navigating challenging life transitions, stress, self-esteem, identity concerns, relationships, anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, or grief and loss, I’m here to provide a judgement-free safer space to externalize your concerns and support meaningful change.
I approach my practice from a trauma-informed lens, meaning I’m committed to working at the pace of trust–taking time to understand your body’s responses and experiences, honing inner resources and skills, and creating space for you to unfurl and explore deeper when the time feels right. I also believe learning is a life long practice, so I take seriously my commitment to anti-oppressive frameworks by continually learning from systemically marginalized folks and honouring their stories and lived experiences. I have considerable experience supporting folks from neurodiverse and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and aim to provide an affirming space for the dynamic and layered nature of your identity. The systems we live in are complex and challenging, you don’t have to navigate them alone.
I am a current member in good standing with the Canadian Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO), the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP) and the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA). I am also a registered yoga teacher and meditation instructor, and bring these insights to my work with clients and recognizing these traditions as evolving from a long lineage of embodied wisdom from a pre-colonial, non-western world.
I am available to meet in-person for sessions at the studio, or virtually from anywhere in Ontario. I promise you don’t need to arrive with any previous art experience or be an exceptionally skilled artist to engage with art therapeutically– stick figures are always welcome!

Currently welcoming new clients ages 13 & up!
I’m a Registered Psychotherapist, Art Therapist and lifelong artist who believes in the healing power of creativity, connection, and authenticity. My path to becoming a therapist began with my long journey through mental health challenges—something I’m still learning to navigate. My lived experience shaped my deep empathy and fuels my commitment to creating a space where others feel seen, safe, and supported.
Even as a child, friends would jokingly call me “the therapist”—something that stuck with me and eventually became a calling. My approach is organic and eclectic, rooted in client-centred care- I like to keep things casual, down to earth, and organic in session. No pressure, no pretense, just a space where you can come as you are. I draw from a range of modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), always adapting to what feels right for each individual.
I work with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, neurodivergence, emotional regulation, identity, and life transitions. I invite clients to explore not only through conversation, but also through art. Art therapy is available as an expressive tool—but never required. You don’t need to have any art experience to benefit from it. Whether we’re using words, images, or a combination of both, you are welcome exactly as you are.
